Entry from CITY

I miss my ride when i see this....
Good thing about working in the city.
I just need less than 10 seconds to travel to my office!
hahah

A little bit of update about YJ.
He's starting to speak up a little for himself.
We were conversing and i asked him to speak up!
his reply "I don't know what to say & i dont know how to say. I am thinking. So how do i speak up?"
Logical reasoning skill doesnt come overnight, at least he is speaking his mind now.

Our topic
He said that he cannot stand the smell of people smoking. So he will leave after he eats.
I said that by that time, the guy will finish smoking already mah.
But he said he just cannot stand it even minutes after he stopped.
I said that there are smoke smell in our hotel room. What's the difference?
He said that THERE IS A DIFFERENCE, BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT IS IT!

But he's still a bit anti social, he left immediately after eating his dinner. We are just people from different world.

I'm in city now!

Had a steamboat at the resort with the staffs before i left for the city. Well, it seems that there a few good drinkers.


I think this beer taste good. Not as bitter as what we drink usually.

The manager invited us to apreciate the moon while drinking tonight. But alas, we cannot stay because the GM had booked the hotel for us. :D

Happenings yesterday

To anonymous: you clearly got the definition of "backstabber" wrongly. Maybe you wanna check dictionary or call me a "bitch (male version).

Unpleasant'? Sure they are never pleasant. The thing is we need to change to improve ourselves constantly. Isnt that what make people succeed in life?

Let me talk about yesterday.

The walk to our temp workplace is about 30min-50min. It's ok that he's walking slower than the girls even, but well, after we are there, we are all tired.

We sat down at the tea house to chat. Since there is a talk by 1 of the old staff over there, we think we there's something which we must do. We started talking about doing business in China etc etc.

I shared with them my previous trips to China and what i have learnt - through asking questions.

It's ok that YJ was tired PHYSICALLY. He gave up discussing with me after 20minutes? He said "i come to attachment so that i dont have to study, i dont have to THINK!" I replied that you have to think all the time even when you go out to work in future. You dont wanna think? Sure, how about physical work like housekeeping etc that may not require thinking? He said that i must not ASSUME all the times that i am right.
I said that right. my assumptions can be wrong, but you must tell me why. you cant just say that i'm wrong coz i'm wrong, there's must be reasonings. It's like setting up a biz, you cannot set up coz you say it will make money. Gotta show reasons why.

He clearly has a problem expressing himself verbally. We were talking about dreams so he asked "the scenes in your dream, is it the same as your dream's scenes?"
The 3 of us got so stunned by his words.

His last words to me are "you better stop aiming me. if not i will do something to you like my brother. you want extra ingredients in your lunch later?"

Fine, i stopped totally. I just do his trademark reply of "hmph" for almost everything he said.

He clearly has a lot of problems.

He complains about gum pain when he drink chilled water, (not sure abt normal temp water) & sour stuff. So i advise him to visit a dentist. He then said that it's not his teeth problem. WHATEVER.

He keep living in his past. Whenever anything is mentioned, he will say "i last time xxxx, last time xxxx"

Sure i will talked about my soccer history, but i did have other current achievements to boast about too. I dont only live in my pasts, i believe in my dreams and i work towards it.

His goal? Get this attachment over and done with and started to work in the society after serving NS. He doesnt like to think when he's tired physically, nor he doesnt like to do physical stuff when he's tired mentally. I wonder how he will survive even BMT with this thinking.

Some other stuffs which he did last night.

1) He killed 1 mosquito and left it on my bed sheet "I said FUCK! why the fuck you wanna do that?" He said that he wanted to show me he killed a mosquito. -_-"

2) We were back from BBQ last night, he never brush his teeth and he just go to bed." I just confirmed with him "you didnt brush ur teeth last night hor?" He will go "HMPH. yar, never." I mentioned about the pain. He went "hmph, it will get painful because i brush"

Well well well. How did i backstab him in anyway? I never badmouth him to my boss and bring myself up. I mentioned all about his weakeness (not in a nice way, but that's me) and i talked to him about it in real life too. you only read my blog and you determine that i should go to hell. maybe you are a god who tagged in my cbox. i will never know that for sure.

he just said that he will brush his teeth in the morning because there's no pain. he will brush when he feels no pain. i asked him his technique about brushing. his reply? "i know i brush the wrong way, that's why pain"

SO CHANGE it dude! do you feel me now? anonymous? how about leaving your name or email me? tell me how you will go about solving this problem?

There are times when 2 of us will talk slowly too. It's just that i dont blog about everything. he did mention about improving relationship with the local staffs. i said that's good. i'm doing my own relationship with them. you gotta learn how to talk to them yourselves too. let's assume it's always the 4 of us approaching them and the 3 of us talking. think it will improve his relationship with the local too? it wont.

ps: i have given up on improving his diet. i will try all free advices 2-3 times. i dont see result, i give up. it's like giving advices to people over msn on achieving their fitness goals. he said lunch was bad yesterday (which i agree) and he bought 3-4 packets of potato chips and snack on instead. well, it's obviously that he doesnt want to change. i'm ok with that. it's his health, his body.

Yong Jun Yong Jun....

I'm trying to "train" him for NS, mentally.

A few incidents happened today.

1) I left my dirty clothes in the washing machine. Wanted to shower first before throwing the shorts that i'm wearing to wash altogether. Well, he was bringing his socks into the bathroom and i know he wanted to wash too. I keep quiet. He then wanted to bring out my stuff outside the room to "dry". I asked him "YJ, what are you doing?" He replied that he wanted to dry my laundry. Me "do you feel that the clothes are very dry?" He just "hmph?" /SLAP FOREHEAD NO1

2) Some strange noise from the washing machine during wash. He asked "eh, you left something in the pocket huh? There's hard material"
I will always check before washing. Nevermind. I got up from my bed and digged everything out. I found 2 x $1 note. He said "must be yours" (The funny thing is that my smallest note is $5 coz i pay for items last night. HA)
well then, i found 1 battery. He then said "Oh! battery! There's 1 more"
/SLAP FOREHEAD NO2

3) He woke up in the middle of the night around 4am. He went to the bathroom for a leak. I lied on my bed, not moving. I hear him peeing and he just walked out to take a drink. I said "eh, you never wash hand ah?" He just go Hmph? then go in and rinse with water for that half second. /SLAP FOREHEAD NO3

4) He went for a walk down the river without telling me. Without bringing his HP. Thanks god that he's ok. He went out for 2hrs. I dont even know where he is...

5) For your own sake. Please try to talk clearly can? Go NS like this - sure kenna bullied by everyone.

6) We are changing bedsheets today. He brought in 2. Ok, i got 1 VERY CLEAN one through luck. He got one that's soiled. Nevermind. I asked him "nvm 1 la, just go to the stallroom and get another one lor"
He was de-dusting his sheet on my bed. -_-" I just keep quiet and walk out of the room first.
When i'm back. He took my bedsheet!!!! I was like WTF!
I keep quiet and walked to the stall and took another bedsheet. A few of stains here and there, i just lan lan sleep lor. Since i'm trained in Tekong that i can sleep on any fucking bed sheet.
(I was pretty damm pissed in this situation and i told him "wah, you are very smart hor. tell you take your own and you took mine. Very smart (self-fish) hor

7) We planned to go Hua Jiang. The bus will leave at 2:20 and P was ready only at 215. We carried on walking to the village entrance first though. P suggested going to the other village. Since we missed the bus and i don't have anything to do at Hua Jiang, i asked D what she wanna do over there. She doesnt know. I asked P, she said she's anything, just wanna get some fruits. I look at Yong Jun and asked. He said he anything, go there walk walk lor. (I know he want to get food! hahah)
I then act act and see if he will make his stand. I said that since everyone doesnt know what to do, i suggested going back to the room. Ha, well, all of us went back to the room.

& i did my first full workout since i reached China. I was feeling giddy after 2 cycles of HIIT, so i stopped.


ps: I know that my blog entries are YJ-bashing posts. Well, i guess this is something new, quite interesting. I hope he doesnt get to read till we are back in Singapore. HEH

pps: hope he will stop snoring soon.

The motivation within

I'm sharing my thoughts down here.

I know some of us have been trying to share the correct way in losing fat etc (to total newbies) Some of us have got tired, some of us got pissed when people come to sabotage. (SGBOY suggesting 1 meal a day and doing sit up at fp) Some of us just got pissed by the repeated stupid qn with the sexperts language (at hwz)

My knowledge is not perfect and it's very limited. But well, i have been a PT for more than 6 months now. All my clients do see good results so far. All of them pay me and they get results. I never approach anyone of them, it was them who find me. (I want to say that motivation needs to come from within themselves. So that they will change their lifestyle to achieve their fitness goal)

So are we right to say that results with clients usually come from their own motivation?

I need to state another example here. My room-mate (with me now in China) has high bodyfat. He kept telling me about his past. (He used to be a sprinter etc) I buy his story, but i don't think he is motivated to slim down right now coz i think he still love to think about his past.

eg: i am doing my hamstring stretch and he said "i used to stretch more than that" and he took my bands to try. But well, his ROM is much much lesser than me. He has tight muscle everywhere. Wrong body posture too btw.

I am offering him free PT in exchanging of posting his progress in my blog when we get back to Singapore. (But i am giving up this thoughts now)

He is almost unwilling to workout. (After 1 HIIT session with me) & should have look at his diet, it's so terrible. He skipped dinner last night because he is feeling uncomfortable with bloated stomach. But well, he had 1 cup of instant noodles when i'm back from dinner. He had another instant noodles for supper.

During our last city trip, he had a few examples of bad meals.
1) I stopped by a stall to buy fried meat stick (to satisfy my craving). He bought 1 fried drumstick.
2) I went for my afternoon snack at McDonald, he ordered McSpicy meal (upsized)
3) 3 of us went to play rides at the theme park, but he never. He went to buy snacks instead.

He is committing gluttony! He will follow me in eating junk and he will eat his own junk when i dont! (Maybe he thinks it's possible for me to stay lean with such junk so he can eat too)

I did advise him, but his reply was "My habit for fried food was cultivated in Singapore for 20 years. So i guess this 5 months with you cannot change 1 la"

I give up. Totally.

So with reference to us posting at FP. It's only when the podders asked questions themselves and are willing to change. They are the one who will benefit. (close to 100% in succeeding)

For 2 other groups.
1) Any good way to slim down? (this group is 50/50) coz they may change or may not, depending on their motivational level.
2) I just want the fastest way! (This group is close to 0%) coz they are almost unwilling to change.

So, have we learn who to help? (people who ask the right questions)
And who to give the template answer and need them to reflect on themselves?
and lastly, who to ignore even after 2-3 template answers replies?

If you're fat, it's only because you don't place fitness as your top priority. You choose personal enjoyment, culinary pleasure and whatever else that is making you fat, above being lean. And if you prioritize it that way, then don't blame anyone else, and don't complain about being fat. Simple as that.

i am now in china, i can do pretty much nothing. just a bit tad disappointed that i'm only 3 weeks here.

if having your exam result or people nagging is bad, think what some other people are going through. i have see people without eyeball begging on the street down here. ren bi ren, qi si ren. why is it that we always compare with people who are more fortunate? but we never compare ourselves with people who are less fortunate?

coming here let me know 1 thing: singapore kids are pretty much too pampered. 1 singaporean who came here commented that the chickens should all be slaughtered because they leave their shit lying around too much. oh well...

glad to be alive!

was working out. and i thought the wood is strong enough to support the band. it was ok with 1 strong band. i tried 2 bands. (1 strong & 1 medium) and the wood gave way.

the wood knock onto my head HARD. well, there's blood, i lost quite a bit of hair. there's a small patch balded area now. thanks god that it's smaller than the size of our last finger nail.

well, can anyone tell me if the hair will grow back?

& well, thanks god that it's not the nail that land on my head. if not, i wont be here posting.

wanted to post pic, but i think it's too gross.

had a 2 day break at Guilin City. Quite a lot of places to walk. Many nice things to eat! wanted to post pic. ok la, here's a few of myself.

bought a bag, cap, shorts, dvds, food, massage & many others. spent about 2k down here already!

Almost everything is debatable in this world. Except for some cold hard facts: 1 is 1, 2 is 2.

I read an article on ST just now. The article talked about people under-estimate calories in the US. They made comparison between subway and mcdonald. It's true that subway is "healthier" than mcdonald in terms of the quality of the calories. but then, it's so foolish when you have a large coke and cookie to go with it.

People will eat much more calories with subway in this case. Assuming all other factors remained constant, these people will gain more weight instead.

It's true that 6 small meals is better than 3 big ones. But then, how to determine how small or big?
What kind of snacks to eat?

One can write a book on "diet" or "training". Even with Vincent Ng's book (Ten?), he talked about basic diet, workout and flexibility training. I must say that he has a nice and lean body, but then his knowledge is not 100% either. There are some wrong things he may be preaching. You have just to take note of his genes & lifestyle to achieve his body. If one still indulges on junk food, how?

Supplements are "supplement". They are meant to help, not miracle to achieve. If one cannot have his/her basics (diet and workout) correctly, the best thermogenic is almost useless.

So, what can i hope to achieve with these few short articles?
Some people are so lazy to read all and they keep shooting me with so many questions.
eg: can i just eat an apple a day? Or an apple every few days.
I just tell him "read my blog, ask me questions if you have any after"
You see, if you are so lazy as to spend 30min to read. My stand is that you wont be disciplined enough to change your lifestyle for you to get a nicer body.

I have decided to tell these people sternly to change their mindsets. If they don't, i will give up helping them totally. I will give very non answering answers.

Instead of spoonfeeding all the time, i have decided to drop hints here and there for you to catch. My articles are not 100% informative anyway. I withheld some informations here and there in hope of the readers to do more research themselves.

My organisation of information sucks too. What i know, they are in my brain. I am able to answer when you ask. I am able to spread the information when i talk. (probably) It's just pretty difficult for me to put them into words. I prefer to let actions to do the talking.

So well then, i have become more "attitude" if you notice. People just take free information for granted. I am pretty fed up with people, just those who are lazy.

But then, there are still a group of people who are on the right track. I salute you guys. Keep up the good work!

I'm just disappointed with the other group of people - lazy, self deceiving mentally, ill disciplined etc....

ps: i just love my poor organisations of ideas. (jumping here and there) it just make me unique, isnt it?

pps: my knowledge is not 100% either. But i believe i am on the right track, seeking knowledge through the right source.

I can BLOG!

People usually dream what they want very much. I kept dreaming of sha & my close friends. Haven dream of my family yet. Hahah

Anyway, i’m having off today! Went to Xin An’s Merry Land. It’s a theme park. 2 hours bus trip and 2 hours back. My butt is real sore now.

Played 2 of the most exciting thing in my life currently. Bungee jump & Reverse Bungee. Total damage for these 2 rides is 200RMB.
Got a cert for attempting the jump. I bought 2 photos too. Heh
Oh, there’s a video of me shouting all the way!

Played other less thrilled rides. I still love Viking. It’s just the classic ride.

During the bus ride back, we stopped by a DVD rental shop. It’s just 1 RMB for 1 DVD for a week! Oh man. It’s very affordable. The movies are very updated too. Hahhaha

That’s about it. Will be working 2 days each at the restaurant and kitchen. Then I will be having my 2 days off again!

Recovery.

I have recovered! Like totally.


I feel helpless in retaining my body. I have big problem retaining on the small amount of muscle on my body. Well then, I need to have another fitness goal. First is to be as lean as possible. I may abandon this plan if I get to cold during winter. Second is to be more flexible. Preferably, I am able to kick to my head level when I’m back in Singapore.

Getting along with YJ (my room-mate) can be easy and tough at the same time. He’s easy going, will listen to what I say most of the times. But at times, he has his own special ideas. Such as using SGD to get HK$, using his remaining RMB and exchange back to SGD when he’s back to Singapore so that he will “earn” a bit more. Oh man, I told him this is more “lugi”.. oh well…
Having a budget when going to HK.. oh well…
He has HK foot and BO. But oh well…
I felt like screaming during my sleep last night.. but oh well….

I should be mature :D
But I’m immature by blogging about this. But oh well…


Regarding the diet article, it’s done. It’s for total newbie again. Email me if you have any questions.

As for the resort, everything is good down here. I am going to various departments for the first month.

My guide to a better diet Part I

I am having a big dilemma on how to write this article. Should I write an article with all the kind of good food which a typical Singaporean is unable to follow or should I write an article with decent food that allows all of us typical Singaporean to follow. I choose the later.

This guide to better diet Part I is for average Singapore who have no idea on what to eat. It should give you some decent result, but the end result may not be desirable enough.

Counting of calories
I will not be counting calories in part I because I suck in counting calories. Or rather, there is no way you know how much exact calories a meal has unless you prepare the food yourself. You will need to weigh all your ingredients, including how much oil you use. That’s how much work. There are websites to estimate the amount of calories, but then, it’s just estimation.

I know many people will have self deceiving behaviour and think that we are not eating that much of calories.
Eg: a burger may have 400 calories. But one can choose to believe that “the website tells me it’s only 250 calories”.

Meal timing
Ditch the traditional 3 meals a day habit. Go for 5-6 smaller meals. You should eat the moment you wake up. Eat a meal every 3-4 hours till bed time. Assuming you wake up at 850am.
You should eat at the following timing.
1) 9am
2) 12pm
3) 3pm
4) 6pm
5) 9pm

I listed 5 meal timings here. If you workout, you can add a pre workout meal & a post workout meal. That will make 7 meals a day. It is OK to eat that many meals a day. During my free time, I will eat 8 meals a day. I just make sure that total food in is what I need. I don’t over-eat.

Meal size
How much to eat? I have no idea how much you need either. I only have 2 tips.

Eat SLOWLY and eat till about 75%. Do not go till 100% or more.

0% = hungry
50% = not hungry, not full
100% = full

Type of Food
I classify into 2 groups – main meal and snacks
Main meal is like our traditional meals whereas snacks are smaller in quantity.

I won’t be telling you what are good or what are bad. I will allow you to think for yourself, on how to choose between 2 groups.
1) McDonald v Subway
Subway wins

2) Chicken rice v KFC
Chicken rice wins

3) Chicken rice with lesser rice, more meat without skin v Normal chicken rice
The former wins.

4) Yong tao hu v Fish slice noodle
They are both the same to me. Just have to see how the hawker prepares the food and what ingredients you choose for YTH.

For snack, it can be a serving of protein shake, Meal Replacement Products/Meal Replacement Bar, 1 serving of fruit or a smaller serving of main meals.

What I eat typically (When I have complete control)
9am: 4 slices of whole meal bread with A LOT of peanut butter
11am: 2 servings of papaya
1230pm: 2 fist size of brown rice with 1 serving of chicken breast meat and 1 egg.
3pm: 1 serving of whey protein with milk
430pm: oatmeal (how much depending on how hungry I am)
615pm: Same as 1230pm
9pm – 11pm: My supper, usually a piece of chicken meat from western food stall

I will try to eat as much vegetables as I can in any meal.

Just avoid the following kind of meal
1) fried food
2) almost 100% carbs food (rice/noodle – fried rice, hong kong noodles, hokkien mee)

Go for meal with more
1) meats
2) vegetables
3) eggs

That’s all I can think of.

Cheat meal
How is it possible to stay away from sinful food unless you are very discipline? Only some people will detest fried food (like me). But well, you are allowed to eat 1 cheat meal every week to “reward” yourself for the whole week.

Do not worry, 1 meal will not determine if we will become fat or lean. It’s our lifestyles that decide our body composition. For blessed people (maybe like me), we are allowed 1 cheat meal every 3 days.

Special cases
I am unable to eat 1 meal because I have to work.
Sorry man, you have to think of a way to overcome this. Either prepare a glass of milk, an apple or a shaker with MRP or buy a MRB to have the small snack.

I need to work OT. My company will provide only McDonald.
My Sister has this problem. I recommended my MRP to her. I will NEVER recommend 1 MRP to replace a meal totally to lose fat. But in this case, eating MRP is better than not eating or eating McDonald. This is the case of no choice.

I need to eat to entertain clients!
Bread and butter (Money/job) will definitely come before a nicer body. What you can do is try this style (food sampling) – just eat a little to show that you eat. There is no need to finish ALL the food. During order, just make a special order for smaller portion. (Do you care about the “lugi” or better body huh?)

Old friends gathering - need to eat buffet!
Just go ahead and eat. 1 meal will not determine if you will become fat or lean.

Summary (Just read here if you are that lazy or think my English sucks)
Eat consistently for 2 weeks with the few types of food, meal size and meal timing. See how your body changes, stick to it if you like it. If the result is not desirable, eat cleaner or reduce the meal size.

Try to go as little fat as possible. This is Singapore. Any kind of fat you avoid from hawker food will never be enough. The fat you eat in everyday will still be pretty high.

Try to go for as much protein as possible.

Carbohydrates. It is ok to eat carbs. Just don’t overeat. As in “Extra rice” or rice/noodle only meal.

This is how I plan my diet. I will count my calories when I decide to join any competition. But I doubt I can excel with my limited talent and knowledge though.

Owned in PRC

Ms Anni bought my group a washing machine. She came down to visit us at the resort, she treated us to another nice dinner AGAIN. I am touched, really. I have sore throat and she recommended me 1 kind of medication.



I am giving up. I am in a village, little or no meat down here. Here is a meal plan everyday.

0800: Mee Hoon (thick) It's soaked in hot water and we eat with their seasonings.
1200: White rice with 1 vege, another vege
1730: white rice with 1 vege, another vege

I have my own MRB, i eat them in between these 3 meals.

All in all, i'm FUCKED down here.

No access to buy meat down here.
No access to buy any supplement.
No access to find meat, the people here seldom eat meat.
Need to travel on the bus for a long time to buy fruits.

But i bought eggs for "hard boiled"
I have 150 MRBs, so i can eat 1 each day.

Pray for me guys that I wont get that fat.

Ps: this blog entry is not “suaning” the resort. It’s just normal that I cannot have protein rich food over here. I must get used to it. I will write the article on diet very soon. When I feel better and have the time.

First post in Guilin

Hi all, I am in China, Guilin. I am unable to surf blogspot from China’s network. So I have 1 trusted friend to help me blog. Direct any question to kevinchia@hotmail.com

Internet is crawling down here. So it will be pretty difficult for me to get online down here.

I have not start work yet. Will start working tomorrow. (assuming I recover from my fever tonight.)

Visited the doc today. The thermometer, which is usually used at the armpit, hor, I put under my tongue. How eeyeee. Hahah
